About Monica
I'm Monica Huston. Thank you for taking the time to read my short biography, which I hope I can expand on should I have the honor of meeting you in person. My professional journey into therapy began at the Justice Resource Institute, a non-profit organization where I had the privilege of providing trauma counseling to disadvantaged and at-risk youth. This experience was profoundly impactful, deepening my understanding of the importance of mental health support and setting the foundation for my career.
My thesis focused on clinical depression and strategies for healing, a topic that became central to my work while I studied psychology and theology at Boston College. After earning my licensure, I spent the next five years specializing in couples and family therapy, helping clients navigate complex relationship challenges. Through this work, I discovered a deep motivation within myself to find solutions for some of the most challenging and complicated relationship dynamics. I am currently continuing my training at the Psychoanalytic Newport Institute, where I specialize in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions, including psychosis, personality disorders, and dissociative identity disorder.
My passion for therapy began early in life, growing up in a Catholic family of seven. Witnessing the profound impact of mental health struggles on my loved ones, I became determined to help others overcome similar challenges- and to become the therapist for others than I would have wanted for my loved ones. This early experience has shaped my lifelong commitment to understanding, healing, and providing meaningful solutions for mental health concerns. My love for my faith, and the issues of faith that sometimes come up, lead me to distinguish between faith-related concerns and psychological matters, addressing each in its own unique context, for the purpose of finding holistic wellness.Today, I am fortunate to lead and mentor the IFC team of therapists who share my dedication to improving mental health. When I’m able to step away from my work, I enjoy a good book, hiking, and spending time with my family.

Client Testimonials
After many years of therapy, I found my person. Monica came into my life when I was on my fourth round of therapy. She made a huge impact on my journey to heal, yet again. I always thought that she and I would be the best of friends if we weren’t in a doctor/patient relationship. I can be so very serious and then laugh with her as well. She’s just a really amazing person. I highly recommend her for anyone who’s needing healing.
